members of the Miami-Dade Search and Rescue Team arrived home from New
Orleans after rescuing more than 500 victims. Part of that team is
Hilda Wood and "Flash," a Speaker Kid. To read the full story, which

River Ranch's
Golden Boy, "River", owned by Sharon Harkrider, received his HRCH
(a UKC title) on Sept. 22, 2002 at Colorado River Retriever Club.
He is 28 months old. He may be the youngest Speaker pup to
receive this title. Sharon writes "We have worked very, very, hard for
this and WE are truly on "Cloud 9." We are off to the GRAND in
October. I don't know about that accomplishment but we will give
it our best shot. We will now try to finish our Senior title and
then on to Master. I am soooo excited." Congratulations

Mr. Speaker and Quartermoon Elster Mew whelped April 2001),
is now 16 months old. He has no titles, no ribbons or trophies, and no
initials following his name. He is however truly a champion in his own

Congratulations
to Barb Mattheis and "Beats" (photo at left) for achieving the
Tracking Dog title! Beats (Speaker x CT Tailwinds Firefly of
Tanbark CDX AX AXJ JH WC) passed her Tracking Dog test May 19, 2002 at
Rock Cut State Park in Rockford, IL. Focused and determined,
Beats led Barb to the glove in 3 minutes on a 440 yard track with 4
turns! She was certified for her TD test at 10 months and passed
it at 11 months!

We would like to
congratulate Sally Walker and "Trip" (OTCH Benden's Talk of Texas UD
CDX) for being the number 5 Obedience Dog in the country (all breeds!)
and for being invited to the Obedience Invitational in June. We
wish them luck at the Invitational!
